Who We Are
Swipe Match Pal ("we", "our", "the app") is a group decision-making tool built by Avocado Technology. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Swipe Match Pal iOS app or web app, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
Account Data
When you create an account we collect your email address. We use it solely to send you a one-time sign-in code (magic link). We do not sell or share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
You may optionally provide a display name and profile photo. These are shown to other participants on boards you create or join. They are never shared outside the boards you participate in.
You may request deletion of your account at any time — see Section 8.
Session and Invite Data
Boards you create are stored on our servers and are accessible only to participants who join with your private invite code. Guest participants join without creating an account; their swipe choices are stored temporarily for the duration of the board.
Board content — titles, option text, option images, and swipe choices — is retained until you delete the board or your account. Invite codes are never indexed or listed publicly.
AI-Generated Suggestions
You may optionally request AI-generated option suggestions for a board. When you do, we send your board title and description only to a third-party AI provider. We do not send your email address, user ID, display name, or any other account information to the AI provider.
What is sent to the AI provider: the board's title and optional description text — nothing else. This is the minimum data needed to generate relevant option suggestions.
AI-generated options are always clearly labelled in the board results. You can use Swipe Match Pal fully without ever using the AI feature.
Third-Party AI Provider
AI option generation is powered by OpenRouter (openrouter.ai), which routes requests to models such as those from OpenAI or Anthropic. OpenRouter's own privacy policy governs how prompt data is handled on their infrastructure.
By using the AI suggestion feature you acknowledge that your board title and description may be processed by OpenRouter's infrastructure. If you do not wish to send any data to a third party, simply do not tap "Get AI suggestions".
Analytics and Crash Reporting
The current version of Swipe Match Pal does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Crashlytics, or any comparable service. No behavioural data about how you use the app is collected or shared with third parties.
Data Retention
Board data is retained as long as your account is active or until you delete the board. Sign-in tokens expire automatically after a short period. If you delete your account, all associated personal data — email address, display name, profile photo, boards you created, and your swipe history — is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time.
Delete from the app: Open the app → Profile tab → scroll to the bottom → tap Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm by re-entering your email address. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Delete by email: You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@swipematchpal.com with the subject line "Delete my account". We will process the request within 30 days.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law (including GDPR, CCPA, or similar). Contact us at the address below to exercise any such rights.
Security
Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain). All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Board invite codes are private, randomly generated, and never indexed publicly. We do not store passwords — sign-in is handled entirely via single-use email codes.
Children's Privacy
Swipe Match Pal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@swipematchpal.com and we will delete the information promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will communicate them via an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a change has been published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
